International Students At-Large (ISALs) have access to the full College course catalog, as well as courses in select graduate programs and professional schools.
All students in the College must take a minimum of 3 courses (worth 300 units) and a maximum of 4 courses (worth 400 units) per quarter to be fully registered. Course registration at UChicago is very competitive, thus we cannot guarantee enrollment for courses in the student’s major subject.
As non-degree seeking students, ISALs are not affiliated with any majors or departments and do not participate in pre-registration and "My Planner". ISAL registration dates and instructions will be communicated by the Program Coordinator.
Note: ISALs cannot take courses in Pritzker School of Medicine.
ISALs are required to attend one advising conference per quarter between weeks 3 and 8 of the quarter.
The Program Coordinator serves as the ISAL Academic Advisor.
Additional advising appointments and office hours are available throughout the quarter. Times will be communicated prior to the start of the quarter.
