Inspired by McKeon’s conviction that the study of the history of ideas not only illuminates the past, but also enhances our understanding of the very formation of knowledge and the dynamics of intellectual inquiry, the Center’s initiative, New Pathways in the History of Ideas, aims to catalyze original scholarship that blends historical depth with methodological innovation. The Center invites proposals from faculty across a diverse range of disciplines in the Social Sciences, Humanities and Natural Sciences that investigate historical concepts and traditions with a systematic and analytical approach.
By providing these grants, the Center seeks to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and encourage ambitious projects that reinterpret and revitalize the study of intellectual history, in keeping with McKeon’s own pioneering vision. Through these efforts, the Center hopes to build a thriving community of researchers committed to advancing our understanding of how ideas take shape, evolve and influence our world.
Applications will open during Autumn Quarter.
