Michael Wang
Research opportunities on campus allowed Michael Wang, an economics and history major, to pursue both of his interests. Alongside his thesis advisor, Prof. James Sparrow, Wang researched the history of anti-trust, monopolies and state regulation, which also gave him the chance to research economists from the Chicago School, including George Stigler. His thesis was nominated for a Henry Barnard Prize in US History.
While at UChicago, Wang served as the president of Delta Kappa Epsilon, the recruiting and engagement manager for the pro-bono consulting club Pareto Consulting and sang in the Chicago Men’s A Capella group. He was also a proud member of the Model UN traveling team and participated in the ChoMUN and MUNUC conferences.
"Looking back, I am sometimes astounded by the number of people at UChicago who I feel comfortable asking for a favor, talking about their lives or simply hanging out,” said Wang. “The community at UChicago is unpretentious, generous and open. Above all, I know that, after graduation, there are countless people that will continue being my lifelong friends.
Next year, Wang will be working in the New York Financial Institutions Group of the Houlihan Lokey investment bank.
