Richard McKeon Philosophy Reading Group
Join us for a fortnightly exploration of Richard McKeon's philosophical vision at the McKeon Center. We'll begin with two foundational essays that showcase McKeon's distinctive approach: "Philosophy as Humanism" and "Philosophy as the Agent of Civilization." These works reveal McKeon's conviction that philosophy is not merely an abstract discipline but a vital force for human flourishing and cultural transformation. Through his pluralistic method, McKeon demonstrates how philosophical inquiry can bridge diverse intellectual traditions and address the challenges of our time. Supplemental reading on Richard McKeon is also available here.
Whether you're familiar with McKeon's work or encountering it for the first time, this reading group offers an opportunity to engage with one of the twentieth century's most original—and unjustly neglected—philosophical minds. All are welcome.
