“UChicago has shown me how much there is to learn about the world - about different fields, which connect together in fascinating ways, and about different people, which are the most meaningful part of my life. There is always more to understand about myself and about others."
Justine Shih
Majors: Neuroscience, music
On campus, Justine Shih was active in a myriad of different groups: she served as co-president of UChicago Science Olympiad; Inter-School Board member planning the Chicago Area Undergraduate Research Symposium; violinist in the University Symphony Orchestra; singer-songwriter in The Underground Collective; and a board member of the Taiwanese American Student Association. She is also one of three Class Day student speakers.
Shih’s advice to students in the College is to remember that everything is going to be just fine. “Worry is a natural part of caring, but don't stress yourself out and enjoy the journey as much as you can,” she said.
After graduation, Shih will be pursuing her Ph.D. in neuroscience at Duke University as an NSF fellow.
