Genevieve De Gange, a double major in creative writing and French, fondly remembers a snowstorm that blanketed the UChicago campus with snow during her first year.
“I woke up in the middle of the night and had to go outside,” said De Gange. “I grabbed a group of my friends, and we made the first footsteps in the snow at 3am. We sang and danced on the Midway and came back to the dorm with our fingers about to freeze off.”
De Gange, who was a member of the Peer Mentor Advisory Board, offers the following to first-year students: “You're going to meet so many impressive people, and THEY are what make this university great.”
After graduation, De Gange will spend the summer in Louisiana conducting research for her novel.
