Mask and Thermometer Distribution

Subject: Mask and Thermometer Distribution
Date: September 17, 2020

Dear Students,

The University will provide two UChicago-branded reusable cloth face masks and a digital oral thermometer to all students who will be regularly on campus for in-person activities this Autumn Quarter.

Campus and Student Life (CSL) will manage the distribution of the packages to undergraduate students. For on-campus students, the package will be placed in your room in your residence hall. If you are living off-campus, or somehow do not receive the package in your residence hall room, CSL will host the following package pick-up sessions at Mandel Hall by the University Avenue (east) side of the building during the first week of in-person classes.

  • October 5, 2020, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. (For students with last names beginning A–G)
  • October 6, 2020, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. (For students with last names beginning H–P)
  • October 7, 2020, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. (For students with last names beginning Q–Z)

Be sure to bring your UChicago ID, wear a face covering, and follow social distancing practices upon arrival. There is a limit of one package per student. More details are available here.

Face coverings and temperature checks are important to help limit the spread of COVID-19, and are part of the University’s health and safety requirements. As a reminder, face coverings, whether from the University or your own, must cover the nose and mouth. Also, face coverings must be worn in University facilities, and on campus grounds when others are within 6 feet. This includes campus residence halls (outside of personal rooms) and UChicago Shuttles.

If you are unable to safely wear a face covering, you must request an accommodation by contacting the University’s Student Disability Services at and provide a reason.

Any student who is experiencing COVID-19 symptoms should call UChicago Student Wellness at 773.834.WELL.
