Yamato Hart is a veteran of the United States Air Force, in which he served from 2014 to 2019. During his time in the College, he explored his interests in computer science and philosophy. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and a master’s degree in computer science, he will work in consulting.
What drew you to UChicago after your military service?
I was drawn to UChicago due to my multifaceted academic interests. I strongly felt that it would offer me a comprehensive platform to delve into diverse subjects, aligning with my intellectual curiosity (I was right!).
How have your past experiences influenced your academic and career interests?
Reflections during my military service sparked an interest in philosophy, while my long-standing fascination with science led me to study computer science. This combination has shaped my academic pursuits (i.e. pursuing a joint degree in philosophy/computer science).
What is your favorite class you took at UChicago?
My favorite class at UChicago was “Theory of Algorithms.”
What is your fondest college memory?
Late-night existential conversations, making good friends, etc.
