Symposium honors legacy of John W. Boyer, dean of the College

On April 22 in the David Rubenstein Forum, current and former University leaders spoke at the Symposium in Honor of John W. Boyer, dean of the college and the Martin A. Ryerson Distinguished Service Professor of History at the University of Chicago.

Boyer has served dean of the College since 1992 and will be transitioning to a new role in the President's office at the end of this academic year. The Symposium aimed to celebrate the 31-year dean's innumerable contributions to and historic impact on the College.

The festivities were comprised of two panel discussions focused on the transformation of the College over the last three decades and the state of education and academic freedom in the College, all under Boyer's leadership. The event was capped off by a brief address from Boyer himself.
