Located in beautiful Hyde Park, just eight miles south of downtown Chicago, the University is home to multiple summer conference programs every year. The Summer Conference Program provides a variety of campus services to educational conferences.

Planning
Conference Coordination:
Whether internal or external to The University of Chicago, you can rely on Summer Conferences for all of your conference needs. As a conference organizer, you will be provided with one main contact for all of the conference arrangements including: lodging, dining, catering, classroom and event space, recreation center rental, and library use. The contract entails all the lodging and dining arrangements and any other reservations on campus. After your conference concludes, you will be provided with one bill that details all of your conference expenditures.
Summer Conferences will assist with:
Planning
- Provide consultation on registration deadlines
- Lead pre-conference campus site tours for conference staff
- Offer resources on attractions and services for conference guests
On-Site Coordination
- Provide a coordinator for your conference that serves as your main contact for all of the campus services and facilities
- Make all reservations for campus lodging on campus
- Arrange for participants to have meals at UChicago Dining facilities
- Work with UChicago Catering for refreshment breaks, boxed meals, and catering banquets, as well as assist with customized menu selections
- Create a photo ID for each participant allowing them to have access to the residence hall, dining facility, recreation center, and library
- Reserve function spaces and classroom spaces across campus
- Make reservations for campus recreational facilities and library use
- Coordinate parking reservations

Accommodations
The University of Chicago provides options to fit the various housing needs of our Summer Conference guests. Each conference group will be assigned a residence hall based on availability and the needs of that group. Please click the links below to find out more information about each residence hall, as they all provide different styles of accommodation. Housing accommodations are available for Summer Conference Guests June 5th – August 31st, 2024.

House lounge spaces and common areas in the residence halls are able to be used by conference participants on a first come first serve basis and are not able to be reserved. There is no charge to use these spaces.
Yes. Guests can access the UChicago Guest Netwok. Please contact your summer conference coordinator to obtain your login credential information.
Yes. Quiet hours begin at 10 p.m. and end at 7 a.m. the following morning.
Community kitchens can be used by conference participants on a first come first serve basis and are not able to be reserved. There is no charge to use these spaces. Cookware and dishware are not provided.
Overnight guests are not permitted in the residence halls. Guests are permitted from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.. All guests must be escorted by a conference participant and must sign in and out at the front desk. All guests must leave by 10 p.m.
For safety and sanitary reasons, the following items are not allowed in the residence halls:
Laundry rooms are available in each residence hall. Laundry machines accept quarters or credit cards (Visa, Mastercard and Discover). Laundry supplies are not provided or for sale on site.

The University of Chicago Summer Conferences program provides the ultimate summer experience for those interested in working in higher education, and more specifically in events and conferences. The University of Chicago offers a summer of enrichment incorporating event planning, customer service, emergency response, and professional development opportunities. No day is the same in Summer Conferences, each day presents new and thought-provoking challenges.
The Summer Conferences program at the University of Chicago oversees approximately 50-60 summer conferences ranging from 10 to 500 participants. The University of Chicago is a destination that creates an environment of vigorous discourse and debate drawing conferences from around the world who seek out an intellectual environment. Summer Conferences offers a one-stop shop for conference clients providing conference organizers with one contact, one contract, and one bill for all services and reservations.
