These informal group lessons with Scott Elmegreen will cover songwriting, music recording, and performance. Scott Elmegreen is a playwright, composer, and author based in NYC and Chicago, where he teaches musical theatre libretto writing and songwriting.
Weekly sessions will include fundamentals of music theory and song form; tutorials in using free music recording software (Audacity, GarageBand, LMMS, etc.); and lessons in using standard instruments (piano, guitar, etc.) for songwriting. All are welcome. Students need not attend every session. No prior experience in songwriting, nor ownership of software or musical instruments, is necessary to attend.
