Hunter Brown, graduate student in Music Composition; and Sam Pluta, assistant professor and director of the Computer Music Studio

Experienced musicians as well as novices who are interested in exploring sound creation for the very first time are invited to join together in creating recorded performances for the Department of Music’s project the Sound Fantastic initiative, which will enhance the Light Fantastic project, organized by the Smart Museum, by creating sound installations for various locations around campus.  With the assistance of Sam Pluta, Assistant Professor and Director of the Computer Music Studio, Department of Music grad students Hunter Brown and Theodore Moore will lead a series of introductory workshops to assist students in the creation, recording, and mixing of short audio- or audio-visual performances. Students without formal musical training as well as more experienced musicians are invited to work together to generate these recordings.

This is a two-part workshop and participants should plan to attend both sessions:

Session 1: January 21 7:00-8:00PM

Session 2: January 28 7:00-8:00PM

If you're interested in participating in the Sound Fantastic Workshop on January 21 and January 28, please complete the Google Form here.

*This Winterfest event is Maroon Cup point eligible.*  25 points will be awarded for collaborating on the installations. While we encourage as many of your house members as possible to become involved with Winterfest, like Intramurals, your house will be limited to earning points just once for this activity. Even if your house collaborates on several of these installations, you will still only earn 25 total points. To be eligible for Maroon Cup points, all individuals/teams must include their house’s name within their entry.  If participating as a team, all team members must be eligible house members to earn Maroon Cup points.
