Sound Samplers: This multi-faceted project is designed to encourage students who have not yet been involved in formal music-making activities on campus to join with musicians and ensemble directors from the Department of Music’s Performance Program to experience music-making first-hand.
Join University Chorus Director Mollie Stone and the Chicago World Music Chorus to learn about the musical traditions of the Republic of Georgia, South Africa, and more. Each of the three planned workshops will focus on the basic components of the particular folk tradition with source materials, demonstrations by guest artists, and the teaching of a specific song. Participants will join together for an informal celebratory concert, presented outdoors at the end of winter or beginning of spring quarter.
