Yifan Mao
Biological Sciences and Neuroscience Double Major
UChicago swimmer Yifan Mao will graduate magna cum laude with a double major in biological sciences and neuroscience. While at UChicago, Mao was a volunteer at Comer Children’s Hospital, conducted sickle cell disease research in the Beyer Lab and served as a lab TA.
Along with being an athlete on the UChicago Swim and Dive team, she was a member of multiple RSOs, including a mentor for STRIVE at La Rabida Children’s Hospital and the chair of the community service committee for MEDLIFE.
Post-graduation, Mao will be working as a medical assistant at an ENT clinic before heading to Lagos, Nigeria to conduct sickle cell disease public health research as a Fulbright Scholar.
