Miranda Burt

Public Policy Major

Women’s Basketball Captain Miranda Burt’s favorite UChicago memory was creating "inclusion practices" where athletes from Special Olympics would practice with varsity student athletes. “I truly believe, regardless of a disability that all athletes deserve to play and practice on a stage as large as all of the hard work which they have put into their sport,” said the public policy major.

Burt was also president of the Women's Athletic Association, vice president of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, a writer for the Chicago Maroon, a student delegate to the Clinton Foundation and a member of Delta Gamma. Off campus, she held internships at the University of Tennessee, Fiat Chrysler and United Airlines.

After graduation, Burt will attend Chicago Booth as a Maroon Scholar. She plans to build and implement a scalable model combining sports and education that expands opportunity and improves long-term outcomes for children in disadvantaged communities.
