Dear Seniors in the College,
We are pleased to share that the University of Chicago is adjusting plans for the 2021 College diploma ceremonies and invites the in-person attendance of up to two guests per graduating student. The change reflects updated guidance from the CDC and the State of Illinois.
Face coverings will be required for all attendees and graduates while on campus and six feet of social distancing will be maintained in all seating areas. Graduates will be required to register and obtain tickets for any guests attending the on-campus diploma ceremonies. A link to the ticketing site will be provided to graduates in the coming days.
We strongly recommend that all guests be fully vaccinated and over the age of 18. Guests to campus will need to abide by the terms of the University of Chicago’s visitor attestation, but will not need to submit a signed copy. All travelers from outside of Illinois must adhere to guidelines provided in the City of Chicago Emergency Travel Order for domestic travel and Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance for international travel. Guests should be aware that admission to the diploma ceremonies will not be allowed without prior registration and without the use of a mask that fully covers the nose and mouth.
To accommodate this change, slight adjustments have been made to the diploma ceremony schedule. Ceremonies that have changed time or location are noted with an asterisk (*).

We are grateful for your patience and understanding as we all adjust to the changes in the course of this pandemic, and the fluidity of the recommended response to risk from city, state, and federal agencies. We are excited that the current state of the pandemic is such that we are able to welcome a limited number of guests to campus to share in the convocation experience with our graduating students and celebrate what is a significant achievement.
