Iris Presents: Ensemble-Based Theater Making with Aasia Bullock

Wednesday, May 10, 2017 (6:00 PM - 8:00 PM) Location: Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts

Iris invites you to participate in a workshop led by Chicago-based writer Aasia Bullock!

Aasia LaShay Bullock is a comedian, writer and dancer from Dallas, Texas. After graduating from DePaul University, she began producing original sketch shows around Chicago with Dewayne Perkins as Bleep That Bleep. At age 24, she was asked to write and perform in the critically acclaimed Second City 40th e.t.c. Revue A Red Line Runs Through It. Other credits include NBC's Break Out Comedy Festival, and the recently viral webseries Brown Girls.

Aasia will be sharing her experiences in ensemble-based theater making practices to help us develop our collective theater making tool box. This will be a workshop on *turning improv into scripted work for yourself and an ensemble.* We will spend time improvising, giving and receiving feedback, and discussing the ways to approach turning those scenes into scripted work. We'll also talk about how our POV can be a strong force in turning those improvised scenes into smart satire.

We will be capping this workshop at 10-15 participants, so sign up now! Contact leilanid@uchicago.edu for more information, and sign up here:
