Beginners' Meditation Class

Are you looking for a systematic introduction into meditation? This may be something for you! 

Taught in Chan tradition (Chinese Zen), this class will provide an introduction to relaxation and breathing methods to improve your focussing power. Based on the instructions by Chan Master Sheng Yen, the teacher, Iris Wang, will explain how to use meditation to benefit your body and mind. 

Ms. Iris Wang started to practice meditation with Chan Master Sheng Yen in 1992. She was certified as a meditation teacher in 2003 and has since taught at the Dharma Drum Mountain Buddhist Association Chicago Chapter (DDMBA-Chicago).

The event will be split into 2 parts that can be attended separately, or together:

09:30 AM - 12:30 PM: In the first part students will be introduced to meditation from the Chan perspective and the sitting meditation technique for beginners

12:30 PM - 01:30 PM: Vegetarian lunch (for students who are staying for both Part 1 and Part 2 of the class.)

01:30 PM - 04:30 PM: Students will learn the method of meditation in motion and the theory behind it from a Chan perspective.  

Event is open to anyone on Campus who is interested in learning how to meditate properly.
