The College Core Tutor Program is a peer-based tutoring program designed to provide one-on-one assistance and small group support to undergraduate students completing the Core requirements. The College sponsors this program for students who wish to have additional assistance in chemistry, economics, mathematics, physics, and writing.
The tutors in math, science, and economics are graduate students or upperclassmen in the College. The Writing Tutors are students in graduate or professional programs at the University of Chicago.
The priority Core classes are: general chemistry, general physics, calculus, microeconomics, and macroeconomics. We have recently expanded our program to include tutors for organic chemistry.
Tutors are available in the Stuart Reading Room of the Harper Memorial Library Commons on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings. The Program begins on the Sunday of 2nd week and continues through Finals Week for Autumn, Winter, and Spring Quarters. Tutoring is not available during the Summer. For specific times and locations, please consult the Tutor Schedule.
