Catch up on your requirements, study a language at an accelerated pace, or just take advantage of some amazing learning opportunities offered in the summer. The Summer Session website provides the details of the program, lists the current offerings, and provides registration information.
If you’re taking summer classes, you’ll typically register for one or two classes per session. Although if you’re taking a a three-course sequence (such as physics, language, or civilization studies) you’ll take only one course per session.
As for your summer job, given the obligations of an accelerated course of study, it is difficult to work more than a few hours per week while taking summer classes, so plan accordingly.
Financial aid is available for summer study on a limited basis. If you receive aid for the Summer Quarter you will use up one of your remaining aid-eligible quarters. For this reason, rising second years generally do not receive financial aid for the summer unless they are able to clearly demonstrate that they will not require financial aid for their final quarter of registration. In general, the Federal Stafford Loan and some external (non-University) scholarship aid is not available for summer study.
The Application for Summer Quarter Financial Aid and Summer Work Study is available in the Office of College Aid. It is due April 15 and requires the certification of your College adviser, so please allow several days for your adviser to complete the form.
