In order to graduate, you will need to complete three credits in physical education. Some or all of these credits can be met with satisfactory performance on the Physical Education Placement Test, which is administered during Orientation. It’s best to complete this requirement during your first year.
Luckily, there are a multitude of options you can use to satisfy your PE requirement, including archery, racquetball, jazz or modern dance, swimming, free weight training, golf, tennis, lifeguard training - even pilates. You’ll need to fulfill at least one of the three required credits with a personal fitness course. A complete list of courses (including the ones that meet the fitness requirement) is listed in the College Catalog. Course descriptions are available from the Physical Education and Athletics course descriptions page.
Entering students may place out of one, two, or three quarters of physical education based on the results of the aforementioned Physical Education Placement Test offered during Orientation. Students who do not pass the swimming test that is also offered during Orientation must complete a one-credit course in swimming.
Your PE courses don’t count toward your degree, and they are not counted toward the number of courses that determine full- or part-time status.
